## Managing Geographies in Align

Align operational users can automatically generate geography records for supported countries, then use those geographies to manage geography-to-territory assignments, providing greater control and flexibility when defining territory alignments.

### Configuring Managing Geographies for

To configure this feature:

1. Ensure [Configuring Align](../../Configuration/ConfiguringAlign.htm) is complete.
2. Navigate to **Business Admin > Objects > vcountry\_\_v**.
3. Ensure all countries used for alignments in Align have a corresponding active vcountry\_\_v record.

### Generating Geographies as

To generate geographies:

1. Navigate to the **Geographies** tab.
2. Select **Generate Postal Code Records** from the All Actions menu.
3. From the Geographies homepage, select **Generate Postal Code Records** from the gear icon menu.
4. Select the appropriate country from the list. The following countries are supported:

   | Bulgaria | Hungary | Netherlands | Spain |
   | Canada | India | New Zealand | Switzerland |
   | Croatia | Indonesia | Norway | Thailand |
   | Cyprus | Italy | Poland | Turkey |
   | Czech Republic | La Reunion | Portugal | United Kingdom |
   | Denmark | Latvia | Russia | United States |
5. Select **Continue**. Any new postal codes are added. Existing geography or geography territory records remain unchanged.

### Managing Geography Assignments as

Users can assign one or more geographies directly to a territory. To assign geographies to a territory:

1. Navigate to the **Geography Territories** section of the appropriate aln\_territory\_\_v record.
2. Select **+Create**.
3. Populate the following fields:

   * Geography – Select the appropriate geography
   * Start Date – The start date of the geography assignment
   * End Date – The end date of the geography assignment
4. Select **+ Add Row** to add another geography, or select **Save**.

#### Transferring and Editing Multiple Geography Assignments

Align operational users can also transfer many geography assignments at once, as well as edit the start or end date of existing assignments.

To transfer many geography assignments at once:

1. Navigate to the **Geography Territories** section of the appropriate aln\_territory\_\_v record.
2. Select **View More**.
3. Select the check boxes for the appropriate aln\_geography\_territory\_\_v records.
4. Select **Transfer Assignments** from the All Actions menu.
5. Populate the following fields:

   * New Territory – Select the new aln\_territory\_\_v record to transfer the geography assignments
   * Effective Date – Select the appropriate date
6. Select **Continue**.

To edit the start or end date of multiple geography assignments at once:

1. Navigate to the **Geography Territories** section of the appropriate aln\_territory\_\_v record.
2. Select **View More**.
3. Select the check boxes for the appropriate aln\_geography\_territory\_\_v records.
4. Select **Edit Assignments** from the All Actions menu.
5. Populate the following fields:

   * Start Date – Select the new start date for the assignments. Leaving this field blank retains the original record value
   * End Date – Select the new end date for the assignments. Leaving this field blank retains the original record value
6. Select **Continue**.
