## Importing Approval Rules into Modeling and Production

Approval Rules and their criteria are included in the publishing process from modeling into production, as well as the import process from production to modeling. This enables admins to avoid manually recreating Approval Rules before every feedback period of an upcoming cycle, since they can import the production Approval Rules when creating the model project.

### Configuring Importing Approval Rules into Modeling and Production for

To configure this feature:

1. Ensure the following features are configured:

   * [Configuring Align](../../Configuration/ConfiguringAlign.htm)
   * [Configuring Territory Feedback](Configuration.htm)
2. Navigate to **Admin > Users & Groups > Permission Sets**.
3. Select the appropriate permission set.
4. Select the **Objects** tab.
5. Grant the following permissions:

### Publishing Approval Rules into Production as

When a model is published to production, all of the model’s aln\_approval\_rule\_\_v records, as well as each of those records associated aln\_approval\_rule\_criteria\_\_v records, are published alongside the rest of the models data.

aln\_approval\_rule\_\_v records publish as approval\_rule\_prod\_\_v records with the following fields automatically populated:

* approval\_rule\_id\_\_v – Populates using the following format:

  aln\_field\_force\_\_v.ID::challenge\_type\_\_v::approval\_rule\_type\_\_v
* approval\_rule\_type\_\_v – The approval\_rule\_type\_\_v field of the corresponding aln\_approval\_rule\_\_v record
* challenge\_type\_\_v – The challenge\_type\_\_v field of the corresponding aln\_approval\_rule\_\_v record
* aln\_field\_force\_\_v – The aln\_field\_force\_\_v record corresponding to the aln\_approval\_rule\_\_v record’s aln\_field\_force\_model\_\_v record
* filter\_logic\_\_v – The filter\_logic\_\_v field of the corresponding aln\_approval\_rule\_\_v record
* message\_\_v – The message\_\_v field of the corresponding aln\_approval\_rule\_\_v record

aln\_approval\_rule\_criteria\_\_v records publish as aln\_approval\_rule\_criteria\_prod\_\_v records with the following fields automatically populated:

* aggregate\_attribute\_\_v – The aggregate\_attribute\_\_v field of the corresponding aln\_approval\_rule\_criteria\_\_v record
* approval\_rule\_prod\_\_v – References the corresponding approval\_rule\_prod\_\_v record
* field\_\_v – The field\_\_v field of the corresponding aln\_approval\_rule\_criteria\_\_v record
* object\_\_v – The object\_\_v field of the corresponding aln\_approval\_rule\_criteria\_\_v record
* operator\_\_v – The operator\_\_v field of the corresponding aln\_approval\_rule\_criteria\_\_v record
* value\_\_v – The value\_\_v field of the corresponding aln\_approval\_rule\_criteria\_\_v record

#### Creating Approval Rules in Production

In addition to approval\_rule\_prod\_\_v records being created as part of the publishing process, users can also directly create approval\_rule\_prod\_\_v records and their criteria:

1. Navigate to the **Feedback Approval Rules** related list of the appropriate aln\_field\_force\_\_v record.
2. Select **Create**. See [Approval Rules](Configuration.htm#Configur) for more information on creating Approval Rules.

#### Importing Approval Rules into Modeling

When production information is imported into modeling in preparation for the upcoming sales cycle, all of the approval\_rule\_prod\_\_v records associated with included field forces also import into the new model.
