## Managing Groups with Functional Profiles

Align operational users can manage group membership in Align via associations with functional profiles.

To configure this feature:

1. Ensure the following features are configured:

   * [Managing Users in Align](UserMgmt.htm)
   * [Using Functional Profiles](FunctProfiles.htm)
2. Navigate to **Admin > Users & Groups > Permission Sets**.
3. Select the appropriate Permission Set.
4. Select **Objects**.
5. Grant the following permissions:

   | Object | Object Permissions | Object Types | Fields | Field Permissions |

   | aln\_functional\_profile\_group\_\_v | CRED | All | * aln\_functional\_profile\_\_v * crm\_group\_\_v | Edit |
6. Navigate to **Admin > Configuration > Objects > aln\_functional\_profile\_\_v > Layouts**.
7. Place the **Functional Profile Groups** related list on the appropriate layouts.

crm\_group\_\_v records that are not assigned to any functional profile are deleted during the next push to the connected Vault CRM instance. Therefore, admins should associate all imported groups to the appropriate functional profiles in Align before enabling group assignments to be pushed to Vault CRM.

To associate a group with a functional profile:

1. Navigate to the **Functional Profile Groups** related list of the appropriate functional profile.

2. Select **Create**.
3. Search for the appropriate **Group**.
4. Select **Add Row** to repeat the process and add all appropriate groups.

5. Select **Save** at the top-right corner of the page.

### Pushing Group Assignments to Vault CRM as

Once all imported groups are assigned to the appropriate functional profiles, admins can configure the integration with Vault CRM to push these assignments to Vault CRM users:

1. Navigate to the **Align Integrations** page in the Integrations tab.
2. Select **Edit** in the Gear menu for the appropriate Vault CRM instance.
3. Navigate to the **CRM Integration Options** section.
4. Add the **Groups** value to the Manage CRM Features multi- select picklist.

5. Select **Save**.

Group membership is reflected in Vault CRM during the next push. Admins can verify these assignments are pushed to Vault CRM by locating group\_\_sys in the list of Vault CRM objects impacted by the push.

If a group associated with one or more functional profiles is deleted, the corresponding crm\_group\_\_v record in Align is not deleted during the next import. Instead, an error displays in the import log informing admins that the crm\_group\_\_v record must first be disassociated from all functional profiles.
