## Managing Vault CRM User Preferences in Align

In Vault CRM, preferences\_\_v records are associated with user\_\_v records and employ Veeva-provided and customer-created business logic to impact how users interact with Vault CRM. For example, the event\_country\_config\_\_v field enables admins to define a user’s default country when creating an event, simplifying the event creation process. Align operational users can manage these user preferences via aln\_roster\_member\_\_v records.

### Configuring Managing Vault CRM User Preferences for

To configure this feature:

1. Ensure [Configuring Align](../Configuration/ConfiguringAlign.htm) is complete.
2. Navigate to **Admin > Users & Groups > Permission Sets**.
3. Select the appropriate permission set.
4. Select the **Objects** tab.
5. Grant the following permissions:

   | Object | Object Permissions | Fields | Field Permissions |
   | --- | --- | --- | --- |
   | aln\_roster\_member\_\_v | CRE | * crm\_events\_user\_\_v * crm\_event\_country\_selection\_\_v * crm\_event\_country\_config\_\_v * preferences\_timezone\_\_v | Edit |
   | aln\_field\_mapping\_\_v | CRE | * mapped\_crm\_object\_for\_field\_\_v | Edit |
6. Navigate to **Admin > Configuration > Objects > aln\_roster\_member\_\_v > Layouts**.
7. Place the following fields on the appropriate layouts:

   * crm\_events\_user\_\_v
   * crm\_event\_country\_selection\_\_v
   * crm\_event\_country\_config\_\_v
   * preferences\_timezone\_\_v
8. Navigate to **Align Admin > Align Settings (Production)**.
9. Select the **Global Align Setting** record.
10. Add the preferences\_\_v value to the **Manage CRM Features** multiselect picklist.
11. Select **Save**.

#### Mapping Preference Fields

After enabling this feature, admins can define which aln\_roster\_member\_\_v fields in Align to map to preferences\_\_v fields, including custom fields:

1. Create custom aln\_roster\_member\_\_v fields for each custom preferences\_\_v field you want to map.

   Ensure the integration user has Edit permission to these custom fields.
2. Add the appropriate custom aln\_roster\_member\_\_v fields to the aln\_roster\_member\_\_v layout.
3. Navigate to **Align Admin > Integrations**.
4. Select the **Gear** icon next to the Vault CRM instance in the Vault CRM section.
5. Select **View Field Map**.
6. Select the **Align Objects** tab.
7. Expand the **Roster Member Fields** section.
8. Select **Describe & Edit**.
9. Edit and activate the appropriate custom field mappings:

   | crm\_events\_user\_\_v | preferences\_\_v | event\_management\_user\_\_v |
   | crm\_event\_country\_config\_\_v | preferences\_\_v | event\_country\_config\_\_v |
   | preferences\_timezone\_\_v | preferences\_\_v | time\_zone\_\_v |
   | Custom aln\_roster\_member\_\_v fields | preferences\_\_v | Custom preferences\_\_v fields |
10. Select **Save**.

When an Align-mastered roster member is created in Align and pushed to Vault CRM, a preferences\_\_v record is also created and associated with the new user\_\_sys record in Vault CRM.

If the user already has an associated preferences\_\_v record, the preferences\_\_v record updates based on the aln\_roster\_member\_\_v fields mapped to preferences\_\_v fields in Vault CRM. If multiple preferences\_\_v records exists for the same user, all preferences\_\_v records are updated based on the aln\_roster\_member\_\_v fields in Align.

Admins can review preferences\_\_v record updates in the aln\_roster\_member\_\_v successes and failures CSV file generated as part of the Push to CRM process.
