## Aligning Promotional Products and BRCs by User

To enable more targeted access to products in the Sample and Promotional Items section of the call report, users can be aligned with specific promotional products and BRCs. Marking specific products as user-aligned overrides users’ default access to all child products associated with a detail product, restricting access to the subset of items relevant for the user.

For example, users may only be approved to distribute certain strengths of a medication or work with specific product indications. This alignment capability ensures different users detailing the same brand only have access to the promotional products and BRCs relevant to their role.

### Configuring User-Aligned Products for

To configure this feature:

1. Ensure the following configuration is complete:

* [Configuring Call Sampling](../Config/ConfiguringCS.htm)
* [Configuring Products for Call Sampling](../Config/ConfiguringProductsCS.htm)
* [Configuring Sample Requests (BRCs)](../Config/ConfiguringBRCs.htm)

2. Navigate to **Admin > Users & Groups > Permission Sets**.
3. Select the appropriate permission set.
4. Select the **Objects** tab.
5. Grant end users Read permission to the **user\_aligned\_\_v** field on the product\_\_v object. If users do not have visibility to this field, then all assigned products display on the call report.
6. Navigate to **Vault CRM > All > Product Catalog**.
7. Select the **user\_aligned\_\_v** checkbox on the appropriate records in the Product Catalog. The following product types can be marked as user-aligned:

* BRC
* Alternative Sample
* High Value Promotional Item
* Promotional
* Reprint
* Custom product types

Only company products can be user-aligned. The company\_product\_\_v checkbox must be selected on the product\_\_v record.

8. Navigate to **Business Admin > Objects > my\_setup\_products\_\_v**.
9. Create **My Setup Products** records for each appropriate user and product combination. These records associate user-aligned products with the appropriate users. My Setup Products records can be created manually or data loaded.

In the Samples and Promotional items section of the call report, users can only access promotional products and BRCs marked as user-aligned, with a corresponding My Setup Products record.
