## Searching for Event Attendees and Speakers by Furigana

End users can search for attendees and speakers by their furigana, enabling them to quickly identify the correct attendees and speakers to add to an event. Furigana (振り仮名) is a Japanese reading aid that uses smaller syllabic characters alongside kanji or other characters to indicate proper pronunciation.

[![Closed](../../../../Skins/Default/Stylesheets/Images/transparent.gif)End Users](#)

Searching by furigana is supported in the following locations within Events Management:

* Attendee Search, including when child accounts are enabled
* Searching for attendees outside of the user’s territory
* Searching for event speakers to add to an event
* Searching for attendees in the Digital Sign-in Sheet

Users can search and sort parent and child accounts by furigana if child accounts are enabled.

#### Using Furigana Search with CJK Optimized Object Search Enabled

When the [Enable CJK Optimized Object Search](https://platform.veevavault.help/en/lr/61691/#cjk-optimized-object-search) Vault platform search option is enabled, searching on the Browser platform differs from the standard Latin-based search due to character-level tokenization. This means that search matches in two ways simultaneously:

* Starts-With Match – The search term matches the beginning of a value
* Contains Match – The search term matches when it appears anywhere in the value

For example, searching たなか using Furigana returns the following records:

* たなかいちろう – Due to matching via a Starts-With Match
* さとしたなかいちろう – Due to matching via a Contains Match

To obtain exact matching results to a single word or partial phrase, enclose the search text in double quotation marks (“ “).
