## Match ID Stamping in Vault CRM

Match ID is a predicted Veeva ID determined by an automated matching process. This 21 digit identifier is managed by Veeva and may change based on data or matching updates.

Match ID can be used without restriction. However, Match ID is not recommended for use when an exact Veeva ID match is always required. Customers who choose to leverage the Match ID commonly do so it to:

* uniquely identify HCPs across systems
* exchange and connect data with partners
* simplify enablement of other Veeva Data Cloud products (for example, [Link](https://www.veeva.com/products/veeva-link/overview/), [Compass](https://www.veeva.com/products/veeva-compass/))

Vault CRM automatically updates the matchid\_\_v field for all Account records. The Match ID values are formatted with the prefix “V01”. Match ID values are updated at the end of each quarter, and on an ad hoc basis.

* The matchid\_\_v field is populated if an HCP Account record is matched
* The matchid\_\_v field remains blank if an HCP Account record is not matched
* The matchid\_\_v field may be cleared if an HCP Account record is unmatched

When Veeva updates Match ID values, the Last Modified Date field is updated to the Current DateTime, and the Last Modified By field is updated to the Core CRM System User. Vault CRM uses the Core CRM System User to update the matchid\_\_v field. The following configuration is required for the Match ID field to stay up to date:

* [Configuring Custom Object Types for Match ID Stamping](../Accounts/AcctConfig.htm#MatchIDObjectTypes)
* [Configuring Custom Sharing Rules for Match ID Stamping](../Accounts/AcctConfig.htm#MatchIDSharingRules)
