## Supporting Layout Rules on Mobile Devices

Customers can define layout rules for objects to create dynamic layouts based on the data within a record, ensuring records only display relevant data for end users. For example, a field can be made read-only or required, depending on the value of another field.

* Admin Users - Browser

* Users do not require an additional license

Admin users can create layout rules on Vault Platform. See [Creating Layout Rules](https://platform.veevavault.help/en/gr/51632/) for more information.

Vault CRM supports the following Display Effects:

* Hide – Do not display a section or field on the layout. Supported for fields and sections.
* Display as Read-Only – Do not allow end users to edit this field. Supported for fields.
* Display as Required – Ensure end users populate this field before saving. Supported for fields.

Any layout rule with an unsupported Display Effect or field/section is skipped during execution.

Layout rules are not supported for the following objects:

* Action Item
* Call Clickstream
* Call Detail
* Call Discussion
* Call Expense
* Call Follow-Up Task

### Viewing and Editing Records with Layout Rules as

[![Closed](../../../../../Skins/Default/Stylesheets/Images/transparent.gif)End Users](#)

For layout rules to execute correctly, end users must have at least Read field permission to all fields referenced in a layout rule. Otherwise, the layout rule is skipped during execution.

When end users create or edit records in Vault CRM on a mobile device, layout rules are executed as end users enter data. For example, when editing a record, selecting a specific picklist value can display a new section or make another field required.

If all sections and fields on a page are hidden due to layout rules, an error message displays.
