## Key Medical Insights

A Key Medical Insight is information gained via publications, conferences, or talking with peers, that provides value due to their relevance in the current market. This information can be captured and organized in Vault CRM to enable end users to be informed of these trends or market-influencing information.

Key Medical Insights can be created as a standalone record directly from a dedicated tab, or from the following entry points:

* [Account](../Accounts/AcctOverview.htm)
* [Call](../Call_Reporting_2/CallReportingOverview.htm)
* [Medical Event](../MedicalEvents/Medical_Events.htm)
* [Medical Interaction](MedicalInteraction.htm)

Rich Text Formatting enables users to create detailed and engaging insights, linking out to external resources when needed.

Business admins can define restricted words or phrases to ensure compliance with company standards.

#### Defining Key Medical Insights Restricted Words

Business admins can specify words and phrases that should not be used in a Medical Insight. Restricted words can be specified as a partial string match or an exact string match. This provides greater control over what words or phrases should be restricted and helps minimize unnecessary restrictions.

To define restricted words:

1. Navigate to **Business Admin > Objects > Veeva Messages**.
2. Select **Edit** from the All Actions menu for the **MEDICAL\_INSIGHTS\_RESTRICTED\_WORDS** message.
   * Deselect the **Active** checkbox.
   * Select **Save**.
   * Select **Copy Record** from the All Actions menu.
3. Populate the following fields on the new message\_\_v record:
   * Active – Select this checkbox
   * Edit the **Text** field to add a list of restricted words. Use the following format: phrase1;;phrase2;;phrase3
     ![](../../Resources/Images/Medical/KMI_Restricted1.png)
   * External ID – Edit this field to be a unique ID for the record
4. Select **Save**.

Spaces, newlines, tabs, and all other forms of whitespace are treated the same.

To designate a restricted word as an exact match, instead of the default partial match, enclose the word or phrase in double quotes ("").

For example, when the Text field is populated with the following values: indication;;"side effect"

The phrase indication is a partial string match, while the phrase side effect is an exact string match.

Exact string matches immediately after punctuation are restricted based on the specific language and platform. For example, the Vault platform always restricts exact string matches that follow punctuation. On the iPad platform, this restriction depends on whether the language of the device regularly contains punctuation preceding a word (for example, Spanish uses the ¿ punctuation before words).

#### Enabling Multiple Restricted Word Veeva Messages for Key Medical Insights

If the list of restricted words exceeds the character limit for the MEDICAL\_INSIGHTS\_RESTRICTED\_WORDS Veeva Message, business admins can define additional Veeva Messages to use as a list of restricted words:

1. Create all appropriate Veeva Messages containing lists of restricted words.

   Veeva Messages must be a unique combination of the Name, Category, and External ID fields.
2. Navigate to **Business Admin > Objects > Veeva Settings**.
3. Select **Global Veeva Settings**.
4. Select **Edit**.
5. Populate the **KMI Restricted Words Veeva Messages** setting with a comma-separated list of Veeva Messages. Use the following format: Message1,Message2,Message3;;Category

   All Veeva Messages in this setting must belong to the same category and have matching Language fields.

To create a Key Medical Insight from a call, account, or medical event:

1. Navigate to the appropriate record.
2. Select the **All Actions** menu.
3. Select **Create Medical Insight**.
   ![](../../Resources/Images/Medical/KMI_Restricted2.png)
4. Populate the following fields:
   * summary\_\_v
   * description\_\_v – Rich Text Formatting is available to draw attention to key points
5. Select **Save** or **Submit**.

   Users can only save, not submit, a Key Medical Insight created from a call on Browser.

   If users entered a restricted word or string in the summary\_\_v or description\_\_v fields, an error message displays. Users must remove or replace the restricted word or string before they can save or submit the record.

To create a Key Medical Insight from the Medical Insights tab:KMI2

1. Select the **Medical Insights** tab.
2. Select **Create** (Browser) or the **Plus** icon (iPad).
3. Populate the **summary\_\_v** field (required on iPad).
4. Populate the **description\_\_v** field. Rich Text Formatting is available to draw attention to key points.
5. Select **Save** or **Submit**. If users entered a restricted word or string in the summary\_\_v or description\_\_v fields, an error message displays. Users must remove or replace the restricted word or string before they can save or submit the record.

When editing a key\_medical\_insight\_\_v record on Browser or iPad, end users can change the object type as long as the record it is not submitted. This allows end users to correct errors and ensure data accuracy.

End users can view existing medical insights on the Key Medical Insights tab. Users can sort the contents of the tab as well as search for a saved or submitted medical\_insight\_\_v record.
