## Defining SMS and WhatsApp Phone Numbers

Content admin users can define the SMS and WhatsApp phone numbers for an account. This automatically populates the recipient phone number when users send links to the account using Messages and WhatsApp.

### Configuring SMS and WhatsApp Phone Numbers for

To configure this feature:

1. Navigate to **Admin > Users & Groups > Permission Sets**.
2. Select the appropriate permission set.
3. Navigate to **Objects > Account** in the permission set.
4. Grant Edit field permission to the following fields on the account\_\_v object:
   * sms\_\_v
   * whatsapp\_\_v

To configure this feature:

1. Navigate to **Admin > Users & Groups > Permission Sets**.
2. Select the appropriate permission set.
3. Navigate to **Objects > Account** in the permission set.
4. Grant Read or Edit field permission to the following fields on the account\_\_v object, depending on the customer’s data policy:
   * sms\_\_v
   * whatsapp\_\_v

To define the phone number for an account:

1. Navigate to **Business Admin > Objects > Accounts**.
2. Select the appropriate **account\_\_v** record.
3. Select **Edit**.
4. Populate the **sms\_\_v** or **whatsapp\_\_v** field.

A phone number must be only digits (no symbols), including the country code, and must not contain any leading zeros, for example, 19254526500.

### Sharing Web Links with Automatically Populated Recipients as

When end users share web links via SMS or WhatsApp, the recipient is automatically populated if the following are true:

* The user selected the account before selecting the sharing option
* The user navigated to the media library from a specific account
* The selected sharing option is Messages and the sms\_\_v field for the account is populated
* The selected sharing option is WhatsApp and the whatsapp\_\_v field for the is populated

If a phone number is populated for an account, it is automatically populated in the messaging app, regardless of the engage\_link\_account\_selection\_\_v Engage Setting. If the phone number is not populated for an account, the engage\_link\_account\_selection\_\_v Engage Setting determines the account selection behavior.

Since WhatsApp does not have an iPad app, WhatsApp Web launches in the browser on the iPad platform. Veeva does not control the behavior of WhatsApp Web.
