## Product Groups for Order Management

Product Groups are an additional hierarchical level in the Product Catalog. Users can use Product Groups to quickly select products of the same type or category and apply product group level discounts. A product can belong to multiple Product Groups.

For example, an end user is negotiating an order with a pharmacist. They are focusing on cold and flu products since winter is approaching, and select the Cold & Flu product group from the drop-down list on the order detail screen to display only those products. They quickly select the products they want and add them to the order lines. They indicate the quantities the pharmacist requests for each product and submit the order.

### Adding Product Groups as

The following example describes how to add a product group:

1. Navigate to **Business Admin > Objects**.
2. Select the **product\_\_v** object.
3. Select **Create**.

Create a product called Cold & Flu:

1. Enter ‘Cold & Flu’ in the name\_\_v field.
2. Select product\_group\_\_v as the product\_type\_\_v.
3. Select **Save + Create**.

Create a product called Cholecap:

1. Enter ‘Cholecap’ in the **name\_\_v** field.
2. Select **detail\_\_v** as the product\_type\_\_v.
3. Select **Save + Create**.

Create a product called Cholecap 100 capsules:

1. Enter ‘Cholecap 100 capsules’ in the **name\_\_v** field.
2. Select **Cholecap** as the parent\_product\_\_v.
3. Select **order\_\_v** as the product\_type\_\_v.
4. Select **Save + Create**.

Create a product called Cholecap 200 capsules:

1. Enter ‘Cholecap 200 capsules’ in the **name\_\_v** field.
2. Select **Cholecap** as the parent\_product\_\_v.
3. Select **order\_\_v** as the product\_type\_\_v.
4. Select **Save**.

Create a Product Group record for Cholecap 100 capsules:

1. Select the **product\_group\_\_v** object.
2. Select **Create**.
3. Create a Product Group record for Cholecap 100 capsules:

* Enter ‘Cholecap 100 capsules’ in the **name\_\_v** field.
* Select **Cold & Flu** as the product\_catalog\_\_v.

The start\_date\_\_v and end\_date\_\_v Product Group fields are not used with Order Management.

4. Select **Save + Create**.

Create a Product Group record for Cholecap 200 capsules:

1. Enter ‘Cholecap 200 capsules’ in the **name\_\_v** field.
2. Select **Cold & Flu** as the product\_catalog\_\_v.
3. Select **Save**.

### Using Product Groups as

To use product groups:

Browser
iPad

Users can filter by Product Group when viewing order lines. Since a product can belong to multiple Product Groups, if the product\_group\_\_v field is added to the order line layout and the user has edit permission to the field, the user can define a Product Group for the order line out of the available Product Groups a product is in.

Users can filter by Product Group in the Product Selector. Since a product can belong to multiple Product Groups, the product\_group\_\_v field on the order line is not set to a Product Group unless the product is added through the Product Group filter.
