## Creating Product-Specific Metric Configurations

Business admins can define metric configurations for a specific product, since a product's brand management teams may use different terminology for their metrics and for another product, for example, the names of the product's segments. This allows users to track unique targeted products, while also filtering out unnecessary metrics for a product.

After defining the product-specific metric configurations, only defined values display to users.

### Using Product-Specific Metric Configurations as

[![Closed](../../../../Skins/Default/Stylesheets/Images/transparent.gif) Business Admin Users](#)

To define metric configurations for a specific product:

1. Navigate to the appropriate **metric\_configuration\_\_v** record.
2. Populate the **product\_\_v** field with the appropriate product.
3. Select **Save**.

Product-specific metric configurations are supported for text and box picklists.

#### Dependent Picklists

If a picklist dependency is defined on two product\_metrics\_\_v fields, for example, segment\_\_v and selling\_stage\_\_v fields, the user must select a controlling value before selecting a dependent value. The dependent value is filtered in accordance with the dependency configuration. If available\_values\_\_v is also populated on the metric\_configuration\_\_v record, it is applied as a secondary filter.

Up to three levels of picklist dependency are supported. Picklist dependencies are only supported when both the controlling and dependent fields are picklists; dependencies in which the controlling field is a checkbox are not currently supported by this feature.

When end users view a product metric with a product-specific metric configuration, only the values entered in the available\_values\_\_v picklist display as available for filtering. All other metric values do not display.
