Supporting Field Calculations on Mobile Devices
Formula and lookup fields are calculated and displayed on mobile devices, even when there is no internet connection. This allows users to see the values of these fields faster, without waiting until their next sync.
The following types of fields are calculated:
- Formula fields
- Lookup fields

- iPad Users
- Users do not require an additional license
- End Users
Configuring Field Calculations on Mobile Devices for
End Users
Ensure end users have Read permission to the formula or lookup field, along with any fields referenced by the formula or lookup field. If the field references related records, those records must be synced to the device in order for the values to be calculated on the device.
Calculating Field Values on Mobile Devices as
End Users
When end users create or edit a record containing fields with calculations, the field values are calculated and displayed when end users save the record, even when there is no internet connection.
The field displays a null value in the following scenarios:
- The end user does not have the appropriate field permissions
- Referenced records are not synced to the device
- The calculation contains unsupported functions or operators. See Supported Functions, Operators, and System Variables for more information.
- The calculated value does not satisfy the field’s restrictions, for example, maximum character length or minimum/maximum number value
The value calculated on the mobile device may update after syncing, depending on the data available online.
