Price Books
Price Books provide users with an additional means of grouping pricing rules to complement existing rules in their ERP systems. Price Books are associated with an Account to allow for defining product portfolios per Account, and corresponding commercial conditions for each portfolio.
For example:
- Buying Groups
- Pharmacy receives pricing based on Buying Groups it belongs to
- There is a Price Book per type of product, for example, one Price Book for Animal Health products and a different Price Book for Consumer products
- There are several Price Books per SKU. The Priority field is used to define which Price Book supersedes the others.
- Licenses
- Certain products can only be sold to a pharmacy with a license to sell that product
For example, Price Book Gold is associated with an Account using an account_partner__v record with object_type__v = price_book__v . The pharmacy (Account) places an order for Cholecap. The system checks for pricing rules for Cholecap that belong to a Price Book. If there are pricing rules for Cholecap in the Price Book Gold, the rules from that price book are applied to Cholecap for the Order. If there are pricing rules for Cholecap that belong to multiple Price Books that are associated with the Account, the Price Book with the highest priority is used.

Using Price Books as

If no price book is selected on the order header, pricing rules from all price books linked to the account are considered within the Account Partner Price Book level of the Pricing Rule Hierarchy.
If a price book is selected on the order header, pricing rules from only the selected price book are considered within the Account Partner Price Book level of the Pricing Rule Hierarchy. Users can select a price book on the order header if the price book meets the following conditions:
- The price book’s account must match the order’s account.
- If the price book is restricted by order object type, the price book order object type must match the order’s object type.
- If a wholesaler is selected for the order, the price book’s wholesaler must match the order’s wholesaler.
