Adding Segments to a Survey
Survey segments allow organizations to view responses to weighted questions as categories instead of numerical values. For example, an HCP can be categorized as a "high subscriber" or "low subscriber" based on the response to a question asking how often they prescribe a product. The survey designer specifies the segment names and the minimum and maximum limits used to sort responses into each segment.
When a survey target is submitted, the segment is determined based on where the survey target score__v field value falls within the segments defined for the survey. The segment name is stored in the segment__v field on the survey target. The segment__v field is re-calculated if the survey is unlocked, the segments are edited, and then republished or when the survey target is unlocked and resubmitted.

Follow these guidelines when creating survey segments:
- Segments cannot overlap with each other and cannot exceed the minimum and maximum score values of the survey. The minimum and maximum score values of the survey are calculated based on the highest and lowest possible scores for each individual question. For example, if a multi-select question has five answer choices each worth 10 points, the highest possible value for that question is 50 points increasing the maximum possible score for the whole survey by 50 points.
- Segment names cannot contain semicolons
