Creating Custom Channels
Business admins can define custom channels for end users to capture consent. Custom channels include any communication method outside of Vault CRM, for example, SMS, portal, or marketing campaigns. Unlike Veeva channels, consent captured for custom channels is not enforced within Vault CRM. Customers should integrate consent captured in CRM with their external channels.

Configuring Custom Channels for

To define a custom channel, admins create matching object types on the consent_type__v and multichannel_consent__v objects.
- Ensure Configuring Consent Capture is complete.
- Navigate to Admin > Configuration > Objects > Consent Type > Object Types.
- Select Create.
- Populate the Label and Plural Label fields. The Name field automatically populates based on the Label field.
- Select Active for the Status field.
- Select Save.
- Navigate to Admin > Configuration > Objects > Multichannel Consent > Object Types.
- Select Create.
- Populate the Label and Plural Label fields with the same labels you entered for the consent_type__v object type.
- Select the Active for the Status field.
- Select Save.
- Navigate to Admin > Users & Groups > Permission Sets.
- Select the permission set for the appropriate user profile.
- Navigate to Objects.
- Grant CRED permissions to the consent_type__v object for the custom object type.
- Grant CRED permissions to the multichannel_consent__v object for the custom object type.

- Ensure Configuring Consent Capture is complete.
- Navigate to Admin > Users & Groups > Permission Sets.
- Select the permission set for the appropriate user profile.
- Navigate to Objects.
- Grant Edit permission to the consent_type__v object for the custom object type.
- Grant CRE permissions to the multichannel_consent__v object for the custom object type.

To allow end users to capture consent for the custom channel, business admins navigate to Business Admin > Object > Consent Types and create consent_type__v records for a consent header using the custom object type. See Creating Consent Types for more information.
