Managing Budget Territory Sharing as
Business admin users can manage budget availability across territories by populating territory API Names and configuring cascade settings on budget records.
To add or remove territories on a budget record:
- Navigate to Business Admin > Objects > em_budget__v.
- Select the appropriate em_budget__v record.
- Populate the territory__v field with the API Names of active territories, separated by a comma. Whitespace between entries is permitted.
If a territory__v record's API Name changes, update any corresponding em_budget__v records containing the old API name value.
- Select the Cascade Down Hierarchy (cascade_down_hierarchy__v) checkbox to share the budget with child territories of the defined territories. This step is optional.
- Select Save. The entered territory names are validated to ensure they match active territory__v record API Names. If an entry does not match an active territory API name, an error displays.
Recalculating Budget Sharing
Budget sharing recalculates automatically in the following scenarios:
- Territory Added or Updated on Budget - Recalculation grants budget access to the specified territories, parent territories, and (if cascade down hierarchy is selected) child territories
- Territory Created - If a territory is created under a parent territory with budgets set to cascade down hierarchy, the new territory automatically inherits access to those budgets
- Territory Deleted - If a territory is deleted, associated budgets are no longer accessible to that territory
- Territory Reparented - When a territory's parent territory (parent_territory__v) changes, access to budgets associated with the previous parent territory is revoked. If cascade down hierarchy is enabled on the new parent territory, the reparented territory and its child territories gain access to the new parent's budgets.
- User Territory Alignment Changes - When a user territory assignment (user_territory__v) is created, updated, or deleted, budget access updates to reflect the user's current territory assignment

End users can access event budgets designated for their assigned territory nodes when creating and planning events. See Managing Event Budgets for more information.
Determining Budget Visibility
Budget visibility for end users depends on territory assignments and cascade settings:
- Direct Territory Assignment - Access is granted to budgets where their assigned territory is explicitly listed in the Territory field
- Parent Territory Access - Access is granted to budgets assigned to child territories lower in the hierarchy than their assigned territory
- Child Territory Access (Cascade Down Hierarchy) - If Cascade Down Hierarchy is enabled on a budget assigned to a parent territory above their assigned territory
- Alignment Updates - If their territory alignment changes or their user assignment is removed, access to budgets associated with the prior territory is automatically revoked
