Defining Speaker Qualifications and Requirements
Different speakers may be trained to speak on topics other speakers are not trained on. Depending on compliance requirements, end users may need to be restricted from selecting speakers that are either untrained on an event's topic, or who are lacking a specific type of training. Business admin users can define a speaker's qualifications, as well as create Event Rules that filter the list of available speakers to only display qualified speakers as available for selection.

Creating Speaker Training Topics as

Speaker training qualifications are defined by associating individual qualification records with em_catalog__v records representing event topics.
To define an event topic:
- Navigate to Events Management > EM Catalog.
- Select the Create button.
- Select Event Topic for the object type.
- Select Continue.
-
Populate the following fields:
- name__v – Enter the appropriate name for the topic
- status__v – Ensure the status is Approved in order to use the topic when creating a speaker qualification
- Select either Save or Save + Create.
When end users associate an Event Topic with an event, the list of available speakers for that event automatically filters to only display qualified speakers. See Defining Speaker Qualifications and Requirements for more information.
Adding Qualifications to a Speaker as

To add qualifications to a speaker:
- Navigate to Events Management > Speakers and select the appropriate speaker.
- Navigate to the Speaker Qualifications section.
- Select the Create button.
-
Select the appropriate object type:
- Speaker Service – Represents a service the speaker has been contracted for

- Select Continue.
-
Use the Qualification field to search for and select the appropriate em_catalog__v record.
When creating Speaker Training type qualifications, the selected em_catalog__v record should have an object type of event_topic__v.
- Populate the remaining fields, based on business need and the selected qualification type.
- Select either Save or Save + Create.
Creating Speaker Requirements Event Rules as

Business admin users can create event rules that require an event's speaker to have a training qualification on the event's topic in order to be available for selection for the event. Additionally, business admin users can also specify a specific training or service that speakers must have in order to be available for selection:
- Navigate to Events Management > Event Configuration and select the appropriate event configuration.
- Navigate to the Event Rules section.
- Select Create.
- Select Speaker Qualification for the object type.
- Select Continue.
-
Populate the filter_type__v field with the appropriate requirement. The following values are available for selection:
- mandatory__v – The list of available speakers filters automatically, which cannot be disabled by the end user
- optional_on__v – The list of available speakers filters automatically, which can be manually disabled by the end user
- optional_off__v – The list of available speakers does not filter automatically, end users can elect to enable the filter
-
Populate the qualification__v field, based on the type of filter to create:
- To create a filter that only displays speakers with a qualification matching the event's topic, leave the qualification__v field blank
- To create a filter that only displays speakers with a specific Speaker Training or Speaker Service qualification, use the qualification__v field to search for and select the appropriate em_catalog__v record
- Select Save.
Selecting Qualified Speakers for an Event List as

When end users view the Speaker Selection modal when adding speakers to their event, filters are either available or automatically defined, depending on the event's associated event rules.
See Adding Event Speakers to an Event for more information.
End users are prevented from saving changes to the event's topic or date if the updated event details cause a qualified speaker added to the event to become unqualified. End users must first remove the speaker from the event before making these edits.
