Child Accounts in Vault CRM
In some organizations or regions, the relationship between the person account and business account is an integral part of the business model. For example, it is important for the customer to understand and track activity separately for Clinton Ackerman when he’s at Newton Memorial Hospital, and Clinton Ackerman when he’s at Newton Advanced Heart Clinic. In Vault CRM, this relationship is modeled using Child Account records, which display person and location information together as one unique record. This enables users to understand specific attributes about and to record interactions against the HCP-HCO relationship.
All calls with accounts are based on the person at a particular location, which are represented by child accounts. The relationship between the person account and the business account is an integral factor in understanding important attributes of an account in the context of each individual parent account.
Child accounts enable users to do the following:
- Search for child account records using child account record attributes
- Access information using both accounts and child account source types
- Search for business accounts, person accounts, or accounts with relationships
- Access all information related to a child account from related lists on an account page
- Take specific actions on the child account from the My Accounts view
- Schedule calls against child account relationships from My Schedule

Child Accounts allow users to perform the following actions:
Business Admin Users
- Add Survey Targets - Survey designers can add child accounts as survey targets when creating a survey
End Users
- View Child Accounts in the Account Hierarchy - View business-to-business and standard child accounts on the View Hierarchy tab
- Enter Child Account Information in Account Wizards - Selecting the Create from existing parent account toggle button enables the Parent Account, Address, and Child Account sections, where users can enter child account information when creating an account
- Add Child Accounts on Call Reports - Search for child accounts and add them to call reports
- Manage MCCP Goals for Child Accounts - Track Multichannel Cycle Plan (MCCP) goals and activity separately for each child account. This enables personalized engagement and tailored goal setting, based on the unique needs of each location.
- Use Child Accounts in My Schedule - Schedule calls for a specific account-organization (HCP-HCO) combination rather than just the HCP’s account. This ensures calls are planned for an HCP at a specific institution, providing greater precision than planning a call for the individual alone.
- Select Survey Targets - Select child Accounts as survey targets when creating new survey targets
